April 14th - Meeting Summary

'Rescue dogs and the Mystery of Magnets' was the intriguing subject for the April meeting of the Cropwell Bishop W.I held on Tuesday 14th April at 7.30pm. Members and guests assembling in the Memorial Hall speculated as to content. Was it a new method of rounding up stray dogs? Or fund raising for rescue dogs by fridge magnets?

Once the business part of the evening was over, the President, Mrs Audrey Cooper, introduced Mr John Hall who began to ' reveal all'. We were right on one count - it was about dogs - mainly.

Mr Hall turned Babbington Hall stable block into boarding kennels, He recounted amusing anecdotes of his experiences; including the tale of an enormous English Bull Mastiff who munched its way through a loaf of bread and a pound of cheese a day as snacks between meals, and the arrival of eight large black unruly Labradors in a Ford Fiesta, a human face and a pair of hands just visible hunched over the steering wheel.

The Kennels developed into a dog rescue centre and Mr Hall began to use pulse magnotherapy collars on the older, arthritic and less even tempered animals, with such resounding results that he tried it for himself! He then showed photographs of Joanna Lumley, Antony Worrell- Thompson and Mohammed Fayed, all wearers of bio-flow wriststraps. He concluded by answering questions from members; but had to admit that whilst bio-flow magnets have many and varied uses, they are not able to turn fat into muscle!
